إن مستجدات سياسية عالمية وإقليمية دفعت بموضوع الماسونية إلى الواجهة، من ذلك سقوط الاتحاد السوفياتي السابق، والسعي الأمريكي للإمساك بقرار الشعوب ومصائرها تحت غطاء النظام العالمي الجديد أو العولمة، وفي المنطقة العربية كان المستجد الأبرز اتفاقات أو علاقات أو مفاوضات مع العدو الإسرائيلي بهدف ما زُعم أنه مساع للتطبيع، هذه المعطيات أبرزت إلى العلن، ولأول مرة، في الأمة العربية وفي لبنان خاصة، بعض الماسون في محاولة لإظهار الماسونية بثوب الحملان بعد أن كان المنتمون إليها يتخفون ولا يجاهرون بعضويتهم، وذلك بسبب الموقف العام الإسلامي والمسيحي والعربي، الذي سبق ذكره، وكله يدين الماسونية ويحظرها، ويبيِّن كيف أنها موظفة في خدمة الأطماع الإسرائيلية.
