A baker and a small-town deputy find a surprise arrival drawing them together in a tale that's "sweet as pie" from the New York Times–bestselling author (Publishers Weekly).
In Apple Valley, Washington, true friends are never far, neighbors can help heal the loneliest hearts—and longed-for dreams can unexpectedly become real . . . Charlotte Garrison's second chance is falling into place just like she's carefully planned. A few more sales of her heavenly sweets and she'll be able to turn the empty shop on Main Street into her own bakery—a plan much more sensible than ever again risking her heart. But when a rambunctious three-year-old girl lands on town deputy Max Stanford's doorstep, Charlotte finds helping the good-looking deputy care for her is sparking the most impossible dreams . . . Max has never been much for settling down. But while he finds out if little Zuzu is really his daughter, Charlotte's warmth and caring makes him want to prove he's worthy of her trust. And as they struggle to come to terms with their pasts, Max will do whatever it takes to show Charlotte home is where dreams come true—and he and Zuzu are all the love and home she'll ever need. "A delicious treat. Don't miss a visit to Apple Valley!" —Emily March, New York Times–bestselling author

About the Author-
Shirlee McCoy spent her childhood making up stories and acting them out with her sister. It wasn't long before she discovered Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, her mother's gothic romances . . . and became an ardent fan of romantic suspense. She still enjoys losing herself in a good book. And she still loves making up stories. Shirlee and her husband live in Maryland and have five children. Readers can visit her website at www.shirleemccoy.com.
Reviews-
June 23, 2014 McCoy’s second Apple Valley smalltown contemporary (after The House on Main Street) is sweet as pie. After a heartbreaking marriage to a cheater, Charlotte Garrison gives up on love, makes tasty treats for all the town’s special events, and dreams of opening her own bakery. Although Sheriff Max Stanford has endeavored to remain unencumbered by romantic entanglements, that resolution is turned on its ear when a flaky girlfriend dumps three-year-old Zuzu on him on the way to Vegas, insisting she’s his daughter. Max turns to Charlotte for help , and Charlotte opens her heart to the precocious and mischievous little girl. Max thinks there’s room for him as well, but Charlotte’s afraid of being hurt again. Plenty of smalltown characters chime in as the story meanders gently along like a switchback two-lane road up a country hill. Agent: Melissa Jeglinski, Knight Agency.
